In 2022 we acquired a 9-acre kelp farm off the coast of Narragansett. Kelp is a fast-growing seaweed with many uses, well known as a protein source already popular in many restaurants and kitchens. But it is also an input to many other products, from biofuels, to textiles, clothing and soaps. And it is an excellent method of carbon sequestration - fast growing, at up to two feet per day, it moves a large portion of biomass into the deep sea, removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
We are excited to expand our Kelp farming operations and products this coming winter!
